If President elect Obama’s presidential campaign centered on change, and his current website boasts, ‘Change can Happen,‘ ‘Change has Come’ and ‘Change you can Believe in.’ Then where’s the change in his cabinet selections, in selecting Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State.
If keeping President Bush’s Defense Secretary Robert Gates was a wise Barrack Obama decision based on Gate’s experience, and “He earned the respect of members of Congress on both sides of the aisle for his pragmatism and competence. He knows that we need a sustainable national security strategy — and that includes a bipartisan consensus at home.” Obama’s National Security Team Announcement, 120108.
Then would it not stand to reason a greater piece of judgment is to have kept Condoleeza Rice as Secretary of State. There is no one better qualified then Secretary Rice to carry out the ‘New Mission’ of an Obama presidency. Hillary doesn’t come close either on a domestic stage or international stage in stature to that of Condoleeza Rice, for showing the pragmatism and competence, as expressed by President Obama, for reasoning to retain Defense Secretary Robert Gates.
If you believe the change stemming from the 08 presidential election is Obama himself then you haven’t got a problem. If you believe the change in Washington D.C. comes from having America’s first African -American President, no problem there. If you believe ‘Change has come’ is from, no more President Bush, again no problem. But if you believed and voted for ‘Change you can believe in.’ I’m afraid at this point in President Obama’s selections, I’m disappointed.
As in the 1980’s Wendy’s advertisement “Where’s the Beef” showing the competitors hamburger bun shy of beef. Obama’s campaign for ‘Change’ is way shy of showing ‘Change’ The establishment bashing rhetoric and extreme Left Wing promises, have fallen by the wayside. We’re left with an Obamlintush (Obama, Clinton, and Bush) presidency.
Now I could be wrong about Hillary’s ability to carry the job as Secretary of State and I hope that I am. But the choice of a Secretary of State Clinton in the Obama Administration doesn’t signal much change. Obama’s choices for his Cabinet, and Advisers is once again a lesson for Americans in the futility of voting at all. I would have more respect for the new President if he stuck to his rhetoric and leftist campaign promises. Though I would ardently disagree with his opinions and ideologies, I would respect the new president more, standing by his words. Once again, change has only meant ‘Same names, Same place, Different channel, is all.
There’s more to discuss of President elect Obama’s cabinet choices. For now remember, I have said this before that I believe President Obama to be a first-rate Demagogue, while his choices so far haven’t reflected this belief. He hasn’t entered office yet.
The benefit of doubt goes to the President elect, but soon we’ll know. For the moment be content and assured…
I’m Dr. Quack with the harsh cry of reason…120108

I think Obama was smart in ensuring his campaign propaganda was purposefully devoid of substance. The only change I have been able to observe is the amount of pigment between the current president and the president elect.
