I’m in the Extreme Out-There Zone and I can’t get out. Help!!! I kid you not, when Libertarians and Extreme Out-There Zone Liberals cry foul over Constitutional misuses by the Bush Administration. It’s time for a Dr. Quack Reality check. The New York Times OP-ED in question ‘Democratic Pressure on Obama to restore the Rule of Law’. Written by Adam Cohen assistant editorial page editor of The New York Times. Mr. Cohen’s editorial driven by a group of select law professors, lawyers, and civil libertarians. All championed by Cohen’s apparent hero and so-called defender of civil liberties Senator Russ Feingold of Wisconsin. It’s important to know Adam Cohen apart from his editorial duties at the New York Times is also a lawyer. For the record Public opinion polls have President Bush’s approval at 31%, Congress at 18%, Lawyers with actors finish between President Bush and Congress. Senator Feingold also an attorney.
Mr. Cohen’s OP-ED begins. “In a Senate hearing room in September, weeks before Barack Obama won the election, a series of law professors, lawyers and civil libertarians outlined one of the biggest challenges that will be facing the next president: bringing the United States government back under the rule of law.” “Over the past eight years, they testified, American legal traditions have been degraded in areas ranging from domestic spying to government secrecy. The damage that has been done by President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and others is so grave that just assessing it will be an enormous task. Repairing it will be even more enormous.”
Nothings lost, there’s no degrading of the American legal tradition, the American Constitution has not eroded one iota. The hearing was a waste of Taxpayer dollars. No surprise there. The hearing was nothing but support for Senator Feingold who, “is dedicated to putting the restoration of the rule of law on the agenda of the incoming government, with the support of the American Civil Liberties Union and other groups.” Adam Cohen. Now you know the rest of the story…Do you not?
Adam Cohen writes “Restoring the rule of law will not be easy, Mr. Feingold concedes. Part of the problem is that it is hard to know how much damage has been done. Many programs, like domestic spying and extraordinary rendition — the secret transfer of detainees to foreign countries where they are harshly interrogated — have operated in the shadows.”
Fact is these ACLU card-carrying lawyers, professors, and politicians speaking in this Senate hearing room early September. Are no more Libertarian or Constitutionalist, than the KKK are good well minded Americans. Senator Feingold, and this group of self-appointed elitist have their own self-righteous Socialistic form of
civil liberties. They are the danger to the Constitution not President Bush, not Barack Obama, not you, not I.
When President elect Obama takes oath January 20th 2009 as America’s 44th president. He Barack Obama will become the new establishment. The champion from Illinois best remember the words of another Champion. “That this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom — and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.” Abraham Lincoln.
The ACLU, Senator Feingold and his cronies do not believe the same. They hold up the Constitution, and Gettysburg Address, like a charlatan holds up a Bible. Neither the charlatan nor ACLU have any spiritual relationship with their respective articles. They flaunt them with hopes of gaining ground towards their own agenda. An agenda that doesn’t include of, by, or for the people of the greatest nation on earth.
